Match Report: Valencia CF lose 1-2 in Trofeu Taronja
The team suffer a turnaround against Newcastle United
The midfielder speaks after the Trofeu Taronja
Pepelu talked to VCF MEDIA after the preseason game against Newcastle United.
Adapting to circumstances
"I think we saw almost two different games today: up until the sending-off, we worked well, doing what we've done in training: being an attacking team, pressing high up the pitch, and winning the ball back close to the opposing area. The sending-off was a factor in the game, but I think the team adapted well playing against a great side. We have to learn from this because these things can happen to us in LaLiga, and we have to adapt to everything."
Effort from the team
"We had to adapt to a different situation. We had chances to score, but we weren’t clinical, and the goals were down to small details. We're happy with the effort we made, because it should help us for the start of the season, which we're already looking forward to."
Learning in preseason
"Preseason is for learning new concepts and getting into rhythm of things. Because of the delay we have for the opening matchday, it's going to be a little longer, but we're eager to start. We're going to arrive prepared, and with the first two matches being at Mestalla, we have that extra boost for the team and the fans."
The final season at Mestalla
"Playing at Mestalla is a huge incentive. You only have to look at today: We had a full stadium, with how hot is in Valencia right now. We appreciate it and hope to give the fans more joy than last year. They deserve it, and we need a beautiful finale to our last year at Mestalla."
